We're Retired, Not Expired!

Our Mission

A new phenomenon is taking hold: today’s older generation has more time on their hands. This dramatic increase in life expectancy means people have 20, 30, or even 40 years of life ahead of them upon retirement. What should they do with it? What plans can we devise that would be appropriate, fulfilling, realistic, and creative? How can we foster a positive “culture of aging” that not only helps ensure more favorable living conditions for seniors but also gives meaning to their lives?

You need to be both pragmatic and creative to tackle “sustainable aging” head-on. That’s where WARNED in.

WARNED We Are Retired Not ExpireD—is a nonprofit organization dedicated to co-creating initiatives, events, and activities for seniors. We aim to combat ageism by highlighting the positive role that retirees play in society. We promote intergenerational relationships and social cohesion. We create value through the sharing and transfer of skills across generations. We help GOLDIES 65+) lead more active and fulfilling social lives—and have fun! We encourage them to celebrate their age with confidence and pride.

Our Pillars

These three pillars form the foundation of all WARNED initiatives,

  • Colorful abstract exclamation marks and dots on a white background.

    Social Engagement

Our Programs Thé Dansant, Thé au Jardin and Thé au Salon emphasize the social connection between GOLDIES their community through interpersonal relationships and friendship. In our spaces, where everyone can have fun in a safe environment, we encourage intergenerational mixing, peer relationships, and active participation.

    Emotional Well-being

At the heart of our Third Date initiative lies the belief that all GOLDIES have a space to rebuild their self-confidence, push the boundaries of their comfort zone, and boost their mood—all of which then have a positive impact on their daily lives, particularly by strengthening their self-esteem. Through our“I Can’t, I Have a Therapist”Mondays, we are committed to providing emotional support to foster this sense of well-being.

    Professional Activation

Our Third Act program highlights the wealth of professional experience that GOLDIES to offer, regardless of their field of expertise. We recognize the lasting benefits of an active senior generation by creating and facilitating projects that foster professional connections and knowledge sharing across generations.

Our 3 Strategic Priorities

ACCESSIBILITY

You want to build connections and create the conditions for an inclusive society.

At WARNED, we believe that an inclusive society is also built by changing the way we view aging. Our activities enable Goldies take their rightful place, share their experience and talents, and actively participate in cultural and social life.

INCLUSION

To provide spaces for listening, support, and action.

WARNED spaces where Goldies isolated or have dropped out of society can reconnect, find support, and regain their energy. We implement tailored approaches to enable everyone to participate, take action, and break the cycle of loneliness, while strengthening their active role in society.

TRANSMISSION

Promote knowledge transfer and capacity building among Goldies.

At WARNED, we value the experience and skills of Goldies, so that they can contribute to collaborative and innovative projects. By sharing their knowledge, creativity, and ideas, they become agents of social innovation and help build meaningful collective solutions.
